Is it true that a black axolotl is more hardy than the white ones. I have been told that a black axolotl is less likely to get sick and live longer than a white one.

So does that mean all the people that ever told me that were not telling the truth.

No, they either were told the same things or may be assuming it from their care of axolotls, their white ones may have been weaker than their dark ones.

Our first lot of axolotls, the two white ones were weaker than our wildtypes; one even now gets fungus every so often ( i don't put it down to colour type but that she was very possibly a weaker axie to start with, or maybe her sickness compromised her immune system which is why she is susceptible to illness/fungus). Of our older axies, our wildtype is weaker than it's tankmate (leucistic/white) and tends to get sick before the leuc does.

Ok it must have just been from what they experienced with there axolotls. I got a White albino axolotl and it died within 2 weeks after I bought it and my dark one has been fine.

Was your tank cycled before adding your axies to the tank, and did you test your water round the time it was ill or died at all? What was your tank temperature? And was it a healthy looking axie when you bought it from petshop/breeder?

These things can be contributing factors in your axies death.
