When my juveniles were younger they enjoyed it. As they got older they didn't play in it.
I know of other keepers who have axolotls who actively enjoy the bubbles.
Sometimes it is useful as it increases oxygen in the water without increasing flow/water movement from the filter output, bearing in mind that a lot of water movement from a filter can stress an axolotl.
