I met last week an older lady who has had batrachophobia since a little girl. At 1970's she told her friends about her phobia, and soon she started to receive all kinds of frog figures as gifts. Her friends thought that all those frog related objects (no living animals) would make the phobia to dissappear.

Phobia never vanished, but lady keeps receiving frogs, even today. Nowadays she has over 400 frog related items in her collection.

This summer all those figures have been set up to public display together with about 80 additional frog objects from other frog collectors (including me and my wife). This exhibition is called Sammakot (Frogs), and it is open to public until end of June in Helsinki (Finland).

thats a cool story, does she at least have a fondness for the figures? or does she just collect reluctantly?

i have a coworker who thinks my newts are very cute -but wont come anywhere near them. she knows its irrational-cause she says they are adorable and she cant understand why. anytime i get a shipment in she asks to see them but views them from across the hall....

Yes, fortunately she likes those figures. She is even proud of them, and likes to tell the story behind them. But real frogs are still "an awfulness".
