The first couple batches of Axolotl eggs I ever tried to raise all died from unknown causes, I am successful now, The only difference between then and now is I raise them in glass bowls and tanks instead of plastic bins. Can plastic kill the hatchlings? I see other people raising them in bins and they look fine.

I hatch/raise all of mine in plastic bins. What do you clean your bins with? I clean mine using a 1:10 white vinegar:water ratio, then rinse again in hot water and I have about a 90% survival rate. A friend of mine cleaned his in a dishwasher and would loose most of his so maybe it has something to do with the cleaning agent?

Quick question: did your bins have BPA in them? Studies are showing they can impact on human health, and I can only imagine the effect would be greater for axies, especially in a container in use 24/7. Also, don't forget that larvae mortality is greatly varied, and can have a number of causes, especially for early layings.

I cleaned my bins with water and sponges (not tainted with chemicals).
What's BPA?
