We are moving soon so I will be tearing down my tanks. Unfortunately, my Noto tank is swimming with larvae. They are a little too big to suck up with a pipette like I would normally do. The tank is full of muck and heavily planted -it is really difficult to get a small net around in there. Any tricks or tips that might work?

I will probably just have to take everything out, then wait for the muck to settle. I just don't want to pour all of them down the sink :(

I use a syphon hose, If you're tearing down the whole tank you could syphon all the water through a net to all catch the larvae?

I have a bunch of basting bulbs of various sizes. Some have large enough holes to catch medium-sized larvae. I hold my left hand right next to the opening as I suck up the larva, and immediately put my finger over the end (thus reducing the chance for the larva to swim or drip back out).

For large larvae - more than half way to morphing - they do OK being caught in a brine shrimp net. You'll have to take out all the plants and such though.

P.S. Congrats on another good breeding year:) My Notos displayed some amplexus, but I haven't seen any eggs.

Thanks for the good suggestions! I will strain as much as I can through a net. I do have a baster but it really doesn't work well. I'll have my husband pick up some larger pipettes at work. Hopefully some will make it.

I know all of my females are laying, but I think only the older female's eggs are fertile. I separated the males and females as soon as I saw amplexus, but it was too late apparently...
