Hello all, I am currently running two tanks, one with two 7-8inch juveniles and one with a 2-3 inch baby.

I plan to divide my large tank so they can co-exist, dividing a quarter of my tank will give my little guy the same floor space he has now and my other two will have 80cm x 50cm floor space.

At the moment the only problem I can envisage is an Axolotl 'jumping' over the divider which I can easily prevent. I would like to know if this is a bad idea, I am worried maybe my big guys will be aggressive in trying to get to the baby.

Does any one believe this will be a problem and/or other reasons why this set-up is a bad idea?

I've used tank dividers with mostly success, but I did have an injury to my baby using one. Granted I believe it was an outside force (kids) that moved the divider. Mine was also on a bare bottom.

As far as jumping over the divider, if your divider extends above the water level, I don't see why they would be prone to jump over it. In my experience, the neighbors were nosy about each other, but were not aggressive in seeking any way to get to the other one.

Honestly, if there's nothing wrong with your current set up, I wouldn't switch them up at all. Just my opinion.

Some nights I do not have much time to feed and clean etc. it would be a little easier, but if there are any fears I will not do it.

When I raised axolotl I ended up using a divider to separate the juveniles from the adults. This worked well, to a degree. The first problem I had was the holes where very fine, the filter was less effective on the side it wasn't placed. I ended putting a smaller filter in the second half.
I also had some escapees who decided visiting dad was a good idea, I lost a few juveniles.
I suspected this was a combination of the adult knocking the divider a bit to vigorously and the 'seal' becoming a little less effective if there was any algae on the glass.
