hey everyone, just wondering how many of you are still keeping/ raising any pyrrhogaster.. i have had one for about 9 years now.. was wondering if
A) i should try to find *it* a buddy
B) how to tell what sex it is
C) how long they can live...

I have pyrrhogaster and breed them.
A) It doesn't matter, unless you want to breed it.
B) See: http://www.caudata.org/cc/articles/sexing.shtml Can you post a photo of it?
C) A long time. Many cases of 20+ years in captivity, I've heard of a case of 50 years.

I, too, keep and breed C. pyrrhogaster. My one female - first newt ever - I have had for about 15 years now, and she is a healthy egg laying machine. I think they are a great species to keep.
