Any Members in Washington State?

Wow! I though California's laws were bad. So, which species can be kept in Washington state? That list rules out most of the field.

On another note, does anyone know of any instances where these species could have been considered invasive and which animal or plant they had threatened?

They list species I didn't even know were kept in captivity! Olms! Liua was just described a few years ago, and it's already banned! Note to self, no moving to Washington.

How can they just blanket ban things that may never have even been in that state, and that certainly haven't impacted the environment? Geez, I feel sorry for everyone in Washington! And they called T. grans a nuisance! Can they really mean prohibited to own, or maybe just prohibited to release into the environment? some of those species I don't think could even survive there.

Prohibited aquatic animal species RCW 77.12.020
These species are considered by the commission to have a high risk of becoming an invasive species and may not be possessed

If the risk is that high I’m moving to Washington pronto! While you lot are moaning about the law I’ll be knee deep in invasive Neurergus kaiseri and other critically endangered species.

The mammals list is particularly poor. I was hoping for tigers, giant pandas and snow leopards. Clearly the person who compiled that knew what they were doing.

Well at least Tylototriton keepers can rest well knowing that they are law abiding caudate enthusiasts!

If all the animals on that list are actually capable of producing damaging and invasive populations in Washington state. Then Damn! That must be one of the most salamander friendly regions in the world. What do they say about keeping natives, like the pacific giant salamander?

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
