got another tiger sal. decided not to quarantine for a few reasons, mostly being that there was little point as they came from same person 2 weeks apart. i called them crunchie and twix. crunchie has the straighter "bars" and twix has more random paterns.

i also changed the tank a little. i added a deeper pool and some cork bark. also made a little house with a viewing window that i cover but i can look when i want to. i also got some plants which i'm told would be found in and around a tiger sal's natural habitat but please dont ask me what they are because i havn't the foggiest.

I really like the underground viewing window. How did you make that? How do they get in and out from under there? If you can take a slightly better photo showing the underground chamber, I would like to post it on CC.

Just guessing by the photo, but it looks like you used a piece of plastic to help construct the underground chamber?

very nice, that viewing window is a great

yeah i made it from plastic and sylicone. I drilled the plastic loads with a 4mm drill bit so that it doesn't get stagnent or stale inside and it improves air circulation. It has a doorway at the front (pic below). Will get better photo's tonight and post them in the morning.

a few more pics... i changed the tank round and added a shelter over the pool so that they feel more secure while taking a dip.

out of interest... how many tigers do you all think i could get in the tank without causing any problems?

Well, I have 5 tigers in one tank, the tank is 100x40x40 cm, they still are doing very well and are all healthy.

Of course, the bigger the tank, the better it will be

A general rule of thumb is 12 linear inches per adult tiger. Using that vague rule... 4 adults in your tank.

thanks to both of you

im not sure i would have 4 but i may concider 1 more.

my son is facinated with them and has named them twix and crunchie and keeps asking me where snickers is. lol

very nice solution to the problem of not seeing the burrowed animals. Do they spend a lot of time together in the cave? I figured they wouldn't be willing to share.

they spend almost all of their time in the cave. they dont seem to mind sharing. i am thinking of making a 2nd cave on top of that 1 with a ramp up to it.

cool setup. really like the cave.

my marbleds seem to tolerate sharing hides as well... the other day i found all 4 in capped PVC elbow. had to separate them though they eat much better alone

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
