Hello again. I am considering buying a wine chiller to keep my salamanders at a cool temperature year round. how ever, it has recently occured to me that a wine chiller is an air tight container and fire salamanders breathe...
What im asking is if its safe to keep salamanders in a wine chiller air wise? Ive heard of people keeping their salamanders in fridges and the principle for those are the same as wine chillers. would something like periodically opening the wine chillers door every 8 hours work to maintain enough air for them?
Air con is not an option, and i wouldnt like to use a peltier device either.. ive been keeping them in a cellar for years but now ive moved house i dont have that option any more and so ive been using freezer packs, rotating them three times a day to maintain a 14-18C temperature range. Anyway with winter round the corner the heating is going to come on and so im trying to think of a viable and affordable option fast.
Any views or oppinions would be greatly appreciated,
Marco.
