Hi! My names Jenni and i'm not just a newbie to this forum but also to keeping Axolotls! I have two leucistic axolotls which i haven't named (mainly cos i'm still trying to differentiate between them!)

They're lovely and are managing to find their way round their new home ok.

Had a bit of a panic this morning tho... my ammonia and Nitrite levels had shot up over night (possibly due to the 'petshop' water they came in) and one of them had spit up his undigested food! not good... blummin pet shops!

However, the other half has kept these little fella's before and we've treated the water and are keeping an eye on them... fingers crossed they'll feel a bit better...

They do seem to like balancing on the plants tho...

Anyhoo... I look forward to working my way round the forum! it seems fab so far (and i'm feeling a lot more confident with all the information i've been picking up!)

Welcome, Jenni. (This feels a bit schizophrenic to me, as I spell my real-life nickname the same way.) Sadly, most of the "axolotl people" on this forum never venture up here to the General Discussion section. You might want to re-introduce yourself somewhere in the axolotl section. There is a very active bunch of folks down there. When you post there, be sure to tell people how big your tank is, and be prepared for a lot of explanation of the process of "cycling" a new tank. You may need to remove your axies until it's properly cycled. See you in the Axolotl forums!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
