Two weeks ago Sylabub (Axie) laid her first eggs, I think due to the snap cold change we had. The
babies are very close to hatching now. I moved Sylabub and Morpheus (daddy Axie) to another tank, since then we have had a warm snap and now back to cold.

I woke up this morning to find she has laid more eggs and she is still going...... is this normal for her to lay again so soon?

Should I separate Sylabub and Morpheus so that this will not happen again?

Yes it is normal to happen again, and yes it would be better if you separated them. Too much egg laying too soon can be stressful to Sylabub, especially within weeks of her first time hatching.

She seems much more snappy at Morpheus this time when he gets in her way, and much more focused on laying on the plant in the tank. He is just trying to keep out of her way and keeping very quiet

Axies love laying eggs in plants more then anything else. If there aren't any plants she'll lay eggs everywhere and anywhere. What colour is Sylabub and Morpheus?

Hi Jay

Yes the poor plant did cop a beating. Its now full of eggs, no stalk missed.

Morpheus and Sylabub are both Gold with red eyes. I still dont know enough about colors or what the babies will be.

The eggs started hatching yesterday and they are all nearly out. All babies are white with no coloring as yet. There are some really good sized babies. See how we go.

I have decided though, when it is time to give them to friends or aquariums, I would like to put a fact sheet together, so they can start with good information and make sure that this website and the /www.axolotl.org website. This way they can take proper care of the needs and comfort of the babies.

Cool. If you've got two golden albino's i'd say you'll have some golden albino's. YAAAAY. I've got two goldens. hope the babies get big and strong
