Hello all, I have a question about my axolotls. I have 6, all of which decided to gather very close together, near the top of the tank. They stayed grouped for 5-10 minutes but most have continued to stay right at the top of the water and just float around. I added a top today, it'd plastic mesh, otherwise there have been no changes made in months. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you. Sorry the pictures aren't very good, they're all gathered at the far end of the tank from the light, so it's just silhouettes basically.

maybe if its the darker end of the tank they're just trying to avoid the light from the room?

Maybe I guess, they are on the opposite side of the light, but I didn't change anything as far as light and they've never done it before. It's now the next day, and they're still intermittently hanging out around the top. Meh... I'll just keep an eye on them. Thanks for the input luca.

I was just wondering if they are getting enough oxygen in the tank. They might be gathering at the top where the levels of oxygen would be higher. It might be worth adding an airstone, just to see if that helps.
They may also just be hanging out there because they like it - you know what strange little things these axolotls are.

I agree with Donna, they probably just like it :) Mine are really weird too, I often find them doing handstands etc and sleeping in the most uncomfortable-looking positions.
