AmQuel Plus

Does anyone have any experience with a product called AmQuel Plus? It supposedly removes chlorine, chloramine, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate from your aquarium. I've used it for my fish tanks and it seems to work pretty well but most people I've talked to have said not to use products to alter ammonia and such with axolotls. I contacted the company that makes the product and they told me that it was safe for amphibians. Can you trust what the makers say? Is it possible that they were lying just to sell their product? Can they do that? I'm planning on getting my first axie this evening and the tank I'm going to be keeping him had really high nitrate levels as of a week ago. I've done two water changes in the last week and the nitrate is down to somewhere between 20 and 40 which is still a wee bit high. Would I be better off just to do another water change? What are your guys' opinions?

I would personally do a 25% water change -

My nitrate was a massive 160 yesterday! Took my axie out and did a 25% water change and this morning it was back down to 20. (Yeah I was bewildered too

Unless you have strange source water I don't think you should have much trouble with water levels so long as you do weekly water changes and clear up poop when you see it - I think best to stick with natural rather than chemical solutions - but thats just my opinion

While it is SAFE for amphibians, if you're still cycling your tank, I would avoid amquel plus. You need the ammonia, nitrites and nitrates to cycle. If it's more expensive than amquel (regular), I wouldn't bother buying it, as the extra ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate "removing" properties are really not needed in a cycled tank.

If you're just looking for a chlorine fixer, there are plenty of them out there, including but not limited to Amquel, ACE, StressCoat, etc.

Ive been using it while cycling, yes I know its not recommended to cycle with them in it, and I do daily water changes in addition to using novaqua plus and amquel plus

I mean they say amquel plus does not interfere with the cycle or bb food, and if they're lying then well, that'd suck
