What's the safest level of ammonia in a tank for an Axol? I mean, obviously 0 is the best, but I'm just wondering so I dont freak out with each test. My tank will have been cycling for about a week now, and the ammonia testing is still about mid way, less than half. I'm keeping him in a kritter keeper until the tank levels out, for now, and would like to get him into his tank soon.

Thanks!

Once you are done cycling your ammonia will hit zero ppm. One day it could be only going down to 1ppm but you will know when it is fully cycled because it will reach 0ppm completely. It will take a lot more than a week for me it took over a month. I know you may want your axolotl in the tank ASAP, but trust me he would rather wait until there is no ammonia!!
Also, I would say the max is .25ppm and even then you should change the water daily to get it back to 0ppm.

Oh jeeze. A month? That sucks, haha. Is there anyway to speed up the process? Haha
