Hey I’m getting a pair of well grown juveniles in a few days and I have the general care all sorted. Just a few questions for keepers.

Temperament. I’ve seen a few sites likened them to tiger salamanders, basically once settled quite active and easy going, I’ve also read they don’t dig as often as other species (spotted salamanders, tiger salamanders) just wondering if there's any truth in these statements.

Also once adults will I need to separate or can I keep them together. they are probably 1 male 1 female I just want to make sure the male wont stress the female out (basically being a sex pest) and on the off chance there 2 males they wont fight.

also any tips or info that people might have.

thanks

They're absolutely the most outgoing ambystomatids I have, and so easy to care for. They are active beggars, and are always out. Mine digs... a little. He prefers to bury himself near the surface, usually just by crawling under a clump of dirt.

You can keep two sexes together. They're not highly territorial, and as far as mating, most ambystomatids are notoriously hard to breed in captivity.

Keep them like you would any ambystomatid: some dirt, some coco fiber, a water dish, and lots of worms.

thats what i hoped to hear. thanks now extra excited about getting them

:DGood luck! They are one of the most beautfiul ambystomatids in my opinion.

Mine has a big burrowing system but comes out every night to the opening of the burrow. They are very aggressive eaters(aggressive to the worms). Mine is great and I'm sure you will love yours.
