Ambystoma Gracile?

Our Long-toed Salamanders have a pondmate! I believe he's a Northwestern Salamander... Yes? He's much larger and stockier than the Long-toes are. He's also much more active.

Yup

That looks like Ambystoma gracile alright. If you plan on keeping it (which i recomend not doing as its probably at the pond to breed) you can use similar care as seen here http://www.caudata.org/cc/species/Ambystoma/A_tigrinum.shtml but I would offer more water and less land area.

We're just going to leave them alone in the pond. I'll gladly observe them while they're there. I only see one of this one, but definitely a pair of the long-toed salamanders. Maybe he's HOPING to mate...
