Amazing belching newt

I recently fed a couple of my C. Orientalis some small light coloured slugs from my garden. immediately after eating a larger one, my toughest newt began convulsing and looked like he was burping. The occassional bubble came out. It stopped after a couple of minutes and as far as i know he held it down.

Is this normal after swallowing something large??
Has anyone observed this kind of activity before??

Just thought I'd check before doing it again in case it is harming him.

well, i dont think its normal. convulsing for ANYTHING is abnormal. it probably was poisonous, and trying to vomit the slug out.

His tankmates were all fine when they ate them and they were definitely all the same species.

Sounds like it was due to the mucus of the slug perhaps in combination with the size rather than that it was poisonous.
