Hey all, I am currently in the process of building a very large pond and stream in my yard, and It will include all kinds of plants, a few minnows (feeder fish), and of course water. I have heard many times of people introducing toads and frogs into their ponds, and they do just fine. I have even heard of toads naturally migrating to peoples ponds, and living their for many years. Anyways, my question was that I wanted to know if I could ever introduce Tiger Salamanders near my pond. I live in Colorado, and that is where they native to, so I though maybe it would work. Another option would be to introduce Water Dogs (Tiger Salamander Larva) into my pond. That way they could live in those surrounding, and it would seem like home (better than those buckets they keep them in as bait

) Also, My pond is right next to my house, I live in a nice trailer park, so the house is raised above ground level. Anyways, in the winter , the tiger salamanders could hide under there, or I could burry a heat rock, or the salamnders could just naturally dig their way into warmth. With way, I think this is a good Idea, and I sincerly want your expert opinions. Thanks

dont buy your stock tigers from a bait/pet store-those seem to be seriously disease ridden, best bet is to go get some local larvae/eggs in the spring and introduce them there so they will call the pond home from day 1, once raised in the pond they are more likely to return the next year after they morph.
