Hello all. Recently bought Alpine newts and they seem fine but don't seem to be eating much. We also have B newts and feed them every other day alternating with brine shrimp and blood worms and they go into a frenzy when food hits water but Alpines are leaving their food but have already laid over 20 eggs in their tank (only had them for 3 days) Any advice? We're giving them same food on same days as FB newts (different tanks) Thanks in advance for any advice

Just give them a bit of time to settle in
I have never known an alpine newt to go too long without food, they may be eating when you are not around?
I have newts in my collection, that I never saw eating at all for the first year I had them, but are now full sized healthy adults.

Same (sorta) thing here. Unfortunately mine are a WC pair and weren't eating for about three weeks. The female is now eating but the male is still ignoring food. I would've though they wouldn't lay eggs until they have been settled in but then again I saw a video of an ecologist who captured GCNs temporarily and the females lay eggs quickly during the time.
My Fire Belly Newts too were much much better at feeding and started within two weeks.
I have added live daphnia to my tank so they can just eat whenever they want.
