Alpine newt update

I got my alpine newt 31st October, and she has been in the water all day today after months of sitting on top of her floating island, so finally she has taken the plunge.

Thought this day would never happen lol

What a beautiful species! Best of luck with them, make sure you keep it cool, thats why I could never have one

Well done for persevering, She looks nice and healthy.
Caring for her should get much easier from now on, once she realizes the best food is in the water and that being submerged means she can cram a bit more than usual in her tum, I don't think she'll spend much more time on land now!

She is resting on her island this morning but she was in the water without panicking most of the day yesterday. It was really awesome to see her adapt xx

Congrats newt mum! :happy: Alpines are such funny swimmers. Mine will be-line up for air, then kinda just fall back down gently to the bottom with their legs all sprawled out. They're about as cute as newts get.
