Hey friends, I have had 3 adult alpine newts for the past 3 years. I have 2 females and 1 male, I keep them in a 20 gallon with a chiller and some turtle docks for when they feel like getting out of the water. The one female has always been bigger than the other 2 but now she looks obese. I haven’t fed them for a few days and I’m debating about catching her with a net and putting her in a breeding box during feeding days. I can get more pics it’s just had to get good angles.

I tried to look at the forums but i can’t tell if she’s just gravid, fat, or bloated. Also she seems to be somewhat neotenic and has left over residual gills unlike the other two.

Lathe first photo is from today, the other one a little while ago. She looks chubbier today and the pic only kinda does it justice.

From this angle at least, she looks heavy rather than bloated.
