Recently in my alpine enclosure I have seen quite a few juvenile newts, lots of overwintered larvae, but no adults (except for a large female during a mild period about a month ago). Now, are these juveniles recently metamorphed larvae which have overwintered, do juvies leave hibernation/dormancy earlier that adults, or have the adults already entered the water (i haven't seen any, but I've only looked, not poked around in the pond).
Any ideas?
