So I think I can be officially classed as an Axolotl addict & after spending a small fortune on their initial set up here is their NEW home :p
This is a 4 by 1 by 1.2 foot tank which has lots of frog-bit floating and five large moss balls.
In the far right hand corner is a large filter on high and the flow is blocked by the wall and large fake palm tree keeping the water almost still. I have two of these lovely big red leafed plants and two tree like plants which are in little plant posts & held in place by big rocks. along with lots of this green floating/hanging long fluffy plant my little monsters have plenty places to explore and hide.
I've got a air bubble thingymajig in the middle (which looks in the photo like a waterfall) and a bare bottom for easy cleaning.
The bridge (where my terrible camera phone has almost caught Alice & Milo hiding) and barrel give hiding places and I've got a coconut shell hide with moss growing on it winging its way to me from eBay :D
Lighting is my only problem as far as I can see. I have the light on for two/three hours a day for the plants and then when its off its like a swamp lol meaning I cant see anything!
Id love advice on the best tube lighting which will be good for my plants and not bother my axolotls that I could leave on longer or a suitable colour like blue or red led for the evening ?
Anyways... that's my set up I hope you like it :D

well its definatly full, i like it very much! good job!! :D
i do wonder why your water level is so low.. you have such an awesome aquarium.. why not fill her up?

Thanks Jhonny its nice of you to say, you are a smart cookie to notice the water level problem, I have purchased the tank second hand from eBay and didnt know until collection that it was a home made one.. sooo Im on the cautious side when it comes to filling it right up
Im going to give it another month or so and gradually add more water as I go.

i'm a cookie

if you are anctious about that, why not just reinforce the seems with L-profiles?
just glue them on with aquarium safe sealant.. this way the weight is spread more along the sides of the tank. and its decorative all in one
