What pigments are their in an amphibians skin?
Allthough this isnt speciafically about newts, i know that you get black axolotls. A few days ago, i found a common toad(bufo bufo) which had strange colouration, pure grey black with completly black eyes (not having the bronze irises). I am wondering whether the colour mutation would be counted as a melanistic, as in alot of excess in black pigmentation (melanin), or albinalsim, as it lacks the yelloe/red pigment. The skin looks transloucent, i can see blurred organs from underneith
thanks
