Here's a picture of my lovely daughter Alana with her father taken earlier on the day of the head on collision Nov 2, 2013. A day after her 27th birthday.
I can't express how sorry I am that this had to happen to you. I hope Alana enjoyed her babies and that they made her happy.
There aren't really any words. But thank you for taking care of those axxies she left behind. The simple fact you can get out of bed every day, let alone take care of so many wonderful creatures, is a testament to your strength.
I just wish you some peace and happiness. Again, I am so sorry this happened to your daughter. No one deserves this kind of sadness in their lives.
Your story is both incredibly sad and amazingly inspiring at the same time. I am so sorry for your loss, but amazed at how you've taken on the family of axies.
Thats what keeps me coming back to this forum - to help those who need it, and to hear the stories from other members.
And to know that someone somewhere has pulled something useful from what we do here in their hour of need is incredible.
I'm sending my love to you and your family, and wishing your Granddaughter a speedy recovery. I'm sure she will delight in helping you care for her mother's pets when she comes home.
I am so very sorry. I know that there are no words of comfort for such a devastating loss. My best wishes for strength in this time and always, for the pain of this will never pass. I can only wish you arms to hold you when it hurts the most.
Ok.... so just when I thought I figured out what ro do with all of these eggs or at least most of them, when I woke up this am to get an egg count and separate them.... lo and behold probably 90% have hatched. Oh my goodness, I guess what I do know is that 99% were viable eggs from this golden...
Now question. .. help!!!
I put the eggs in a tank alana had set up for her adults woth sand in the bottom and probably a little larger than a 20 gallon aquarium. ...
What is the fastest way to move them to a large shallow tupperware container...
And if you can picture this... I have been chasing these not much bigger than pinhead babies with a net and I have tried also a turkey baster....
Oh my.. these little guys are fast...
Maybe if I drain more of the water??? Geez why didn't I think about that to start with.
How long were the eggs, eggs? They start as balls, and once turned Kidney bean shaped (mine took about a week), it gets easy to tell viable from non. At this point, you must have had them for 2+ weeks?
But in between taking care of puppies and other 70+ axies I lost track of time... but I just found out you could post the eggs for sale as soon as I posted them..
Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
