okay, so i go out with my mum for tea and when i come home i see two little white round things on a plant next to my new long gilled, tan female who i have named roxanne. then i look at her foot and there is another one of those things stuck to it. then i realise that they are eggs! but after that she didnt lay any more for a while so i thought maybe that was all she would lay which i thought was weird. then after a few hours of watching tv i come back into my room and there are heaps layed on the plants i have in my tank, it was cool watching her lay them. she is still laying them and started last night. at the moment i would say there are about 400, she is still really fat so does this mean she has heaps left to lay?i heard that once the axie has finished she is quite thin. another thing that is strange is that she is a wild type but the eggs are pure white and i read that they are only this colour if the female that lays them is albino. but i did notice that her pupils are pink like an albino. is it possible that the reason why they are white is because the father was albino. if this is the case then that leaves my white albino and my strange creamy albino to be the father becuse my other male is a wildtype. oh and another thing is it normal to have two white balls in one clear eggs sac because i have an egg that has two white balls squeezed into one egg sac, would these be twins? i am going to keep some of them but it is going to be hard to look after them considering that i already have some babies.

wow. congratulations! its so amazing when that happens i can remember especially watching them lay. it was so exciting. twins! ive heard of that happening but it didnt happen for me. it would be interesting to see if they turn out identicle, but you would need to separate them which would be a hassle. have you decided if you are going to raise any? if so good luck! i think its worth it. maybe only the once! but it is.
congrats again!

thanks shane, i am going to raise some of them, and i am also going to find a way to isolate the twin ones cause i want to see if they are identical and i dont want them to get mixed in with the others.lol. it is going to be especially hard because i already have some month and a half old babies as well.lol

Congrats Vanessa...you're sure going to have your hands full there.
My male Axol - ( black ) & female Charlotte - ( albino ) had all white eggs. There was 3 in 1 sac which we had to separate & are raising. Those 3 are all white albino's. More black larvae hatched over 14 days than any other colours.

Congratulations Vanessa or should I say tough luck.

when I first saw eggs I thought they were foam balls or something like that

thanks ros and nathan (i think?), what is weird though is that it is the female which makes the eggs white but my female is wildtype so the eggs should have been black. oh well i think white eggs look better than black eggs.
Ros - WOW so basicly you have triplets, i have put the twins in a container with an air stone on their own. i have put the rest in a large tub with an air stone.
Nathan- didnt you want to know why your axies werent breeding because u wanted eggs? SO id say u have the tough luck.lol.

The eggs are usually laid - 2 days...so she may be finished by now? The female usually does slim down after she's finished laying & she might go off food for several days as well.
As far as the colour of the eggs go Vanessa, I think you're right re female having albino eyes & albino male maybe why the eggs are all white?

If one of the parents are dark, then half of the eggs will be dark also. I had twins too for some of my prior batches.

hhm, well i have two albino males so one of them could be the father. but the female who layed them is wildtype and the whole of the egg is white. weird

hi! yeah I have a wildtype and an albino and all the eggs were white but half of them seem to be gaining wildtype colour after they were hatched. weird.
