i have no idea what they are... does anyone know what they are?. i first thought they were some kind of fungus. if so what should i do? should i clean out my whole tank?! my axoltol seems to be fine nothing growing on her, but im getting worried, im finding them all over the place.

please if anyone has any idea what they are. can u tell me. please!!

They look like some sort of little creature that may have come in on some live plants? I think I have seen similar in my goldfish tank and they ate them. Might want to check with someone else too.

Maybe you can describe them more? They kind of look like hydra, but smaller... I think some larval snails have a medusa-type phase, although I'm not sure.

hey thanks for replying. whats hydra? im not sure if they are snails unless there were some on the plants when i brought them but ive had the plants for a while and i havent seen them. there are some tiny ones and others are quite large. the pics sorta show what they are like but alot smaller. its like a.. i have no idea. should i clean out the tank. it doesnt seem to be affecting my axolotl. she seems to be alot less active but they probably arent the reason.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure it isn't a larval snail, but it might be some other type of larvae. Doesn't really look like hydras to me. I would try and get a turkey baster or something and suck them up one by one. Just to get them out of your tank and if they continue to multiply then you'll need to go get something. But just get them out as soon as you can. That's what I would do.

ah there are so many more. tiny ones too i cant get out. i was thinking of changing all the water. would that be a bad idea??. they dont seem to be doing any harm but they are getting everywhere.

Well it would be bad because then you'd have to wait for your water to cycle again. But, you might have to, but sometimes when you do that there might still be eggs stuck in there, so I don't know you'll have to wait for someone else to help you out.

just about waiting for it to cycle. how long does that take?. i left mine for about 3 weeks. before i got my axolotl. when i do (i dontn know if i should yet) but if i do where will i keep my axoltol?. just in a bucket?. wouldnt that be the same as putting it in an uncycled tank?. so why not just leave it in the tank while it cycles?. :S:S too many things need to be done. lol. thank you everyone for replying.

looks like algae to me, im not sure what im looking at in the second picture though.... if its not affecting your axolotl i wouldnt stress too much, but i suppose theyre annoying for the display purposes

Algae spores get blown in by the wind. I have no idea what it is. Does it have a stalk and tentacles? How big is it? your pics are fairly blurry (my camera doesn't do extreme closeups either, so don't feel bad).

yeah there is a stalk you cant see it very well in the photo but its not that easy to see anyway. yeah the "tentacles" look like tenticles like. a flower??... you can sort of see it in the picture. there are alot more smaller ones now all over the glass. does anyone know what i should do or if there is something that will get rid of it?. it doesnt seem to be affecting my axoltol. but i dont want it to take over the tank so its too hard to get rid of.

thank you everyone for replying.

hydra. ummmm i dont know a link. they eat daphnia or something. they dont hurt your axies. someone else might be able to give you the link so some info or maybe do a google search on them

FYI, If you put the axolotl in a bucket while cycling the tank, you change the bucket water daily.

Hey thanks for that. but im not sure now if it is hydra. which is good because i can rule that out but bad because i still dont know what it is >_< they are not as big as hydra and the stem part is not so visable. and these are 3mm to 1mm. here are some pics just of the glass i know they are really blurry sorry about that. but the first one you can see them on the filter in the back ground and the white thing in the foreground. is one of them. but its too blurry to see. the others are just what its like on the glass.

Sorry its so blurry. does that help?. like i said it doesnt seem to be effecting my axolotl so i dont know what i should do. she is really really active even when the light is on. but she has always been like that. i dont know if thats a good or bad thing?!.. lol :S .

thank you everyone for your help.

by the way sorry about the pics up the top making it so hard to read this thread. does anyone know how to fix it?. or cant it be done?

they are starting to go away ive wiped down the sides of the tank where they are a couple of times. hopefully they stay away for good. i would still like t know what they were though. thank you everyone for helping
