Hey guys, a quick question - do axies require aeration? I'm confused weather or not they take in oxygen from their gills. I plan on buying a few, and am contemplating which type of set-up to create.

Thanks!

Axolotls have gills in order to breathe. Additional aeration of the water, such as through an airstone or a filter, is recommended, but isn't necessary. Axolotls can suppliment low dissolved oxygen levels through breathing with rudimentary lungs.
