Hi, im new to axoltls and this site, im planning on getting 2 axies once my tank is set up and cycled. iv read mixed things on which artificial plants are suitable. i dont want them getting tangled up or getting themselves caught in them, so could anyone help on which style i should be getting/avoiding. i dont want to go through all the cycling and expense and then hurt the critters once i get them

I think live plants are best, but if you don't want live the best fake ones to use are the ones with silky leaves. They can look quite nice if you choose realistic looking types.

I have plastic fern and grass that my axies use to scratch their tummies, I have silk plants that they like to hide behind.

Axies aren't fussy - live, silk or plastic plants are fine. Just check for rough edges on plastic and sticking out wires on silk.

Go with silk plants rather than plastic ones. Axies are super squishy and as auntiejude said can get scraped up on plastic.

There's a little test you can do - find some panty hose and if the plastic plant tears the panty hose when you run it over it, it's too sharp.

thank you all. i will use the panty hose tip when i buy them, great idea. im so excited about getting my axies, i want everything to be perfect for them!
