Hello all!

So I always wanted a pair of axies. I got my first almost half a year ago now, and wanted to determine her gender before getting another (to avoid eggs).

Watz (the axie) is undoubtedly female, and she lives in a 30g tank. I want to try and find her a companion, but I'm worried about a few things:

*She sees her reflection in the tank, mostly the bottom as I don't use a substrate, and sometimes snaps. It's not often, usually she just follows the reflection along the bottom, but I'm worried this could be aggressive behavior to a tank-mate.

*She also tried to stick anything that moves in her mouth. My hands, anything I drop in the tank. Strangely she leaves plants alone unless I'm moving them in front of her.

Does anyone have any introduction advice or similar situations that could help me decide whether or not another axie would be a good idea for her?

I don't have any experience of introducing axis as all the ones I have were bought as already existing groups. However, I'm aware that axolotls should be roughly the same size because smaller ones could get eaten. If you really want more than one you could always have a barrier in the tank to keep them apart. In fact, I guess that's the way that you'd introduce a new one to the tank, to get them used to each other without damage.
I'm sure that someone with more experience will be along soon to provide you with the information that you need.

I bought a baby that was 3 inches when my male was 6 I put a divider in the tank until my little one was big enough. They could sense eachother and slightly see each other as the divider was opaque. By the time I took the divider out they were fine with each other. You should be okay but you could always divide the tank if you're that worried. But do make sure there almost the same size when you put them together.
