:(.....Well lack of feeding, brine shrimp havent hatched ordered some different ones, dug around in my parteners pond for some bugs and put them in with the axi larvae, drove everywhere and ended up getting nothing but a dead bag of tiny brine shrimp.

So frustrated! Everywhere gets their live food in tomorow where I live in Portsmouth and around that area so I hope they will hold on till then!

They dont seem to be interested in the tiny pond bugs! How long should I leave them in there for?

Going to do a 100% change after

Wish I never did this everything was hatching fine before now when I need them. The larvae are around 1-2-3 days old as they are still hatching now, most are three days, how long can they go without food?

Sorry for moaning, i just want the best for my little ones, and ended up pipetting as much as I could from the pond, I hope one eats one bug !

Oh I'm so sorry that everything seems to be going wrong for you.
I have herd that they can survive up to a week with out being fed. ( think it was on another post in the last week or so)

If worse comes to worst could you do the egg yolk mush?

Saying about bbs hatching, I was using soda pop bottles and one I had cut so it was sitting on its bottom and one was sitting on its lid. The one sitting on its lid was fantastic but the other one had hardly any hatch so I made another lid one and that's going fine now as well. Can only presume it blows them round in a different way.

It's a pity your not closer I could give you a load of food. :0(

Fingers crossed that things start looking up from here.

I believe you can feed them cooked and mashed egg yolk in a pinch.

Mine seen to do fine eating black round bugs and cyclops. If you see any of those in your pond bug they might eat those.

Fingers crossed they hang on for you. It might be worth getting some daphnia and growing them on as well, as a back up

If you can get to an aquarium store you can buy Liquifry No 1. This is liquid egg yolk and a few drops of this will feed them until your other food arrives..

How deep is the water in the tank/container ? if it is shallow they will beable to find the food easier, your friends pond should be crawling with daphnia, we have had a mild winter and the daphnia seem to have a high population, at least in Wales lol. When you do your water change filter the bugs out with a fine net and put them back in the tank.

It was crawling with life, but none seemed interested thank god for bbs they hatched today and recieved them yesterday thanks everyone for your help and support !x :D

Go back to your local pond with a brine shrimp net. Run it through the water a few times and dip it inside-out into a glass jar. Look to see if you are collecting tiny "things" that dance in the water. If you are, repeat a bunch of times until you have more than you need and go home and feed your larvae. DO NOT dump the pond water into your tank. Filter it through the net and dip the net inside-out into your larvae tank. If its cool where you are at go to the sunny side of the pond. The water should be the warmest in the sunny shallows. Also walk around the pond until the wind is blowing at your back while you are looking at the water. The side of the pond or lake directly opposite of you should have the most micro life. The wind will cause a slight suface current and the food items you want should gathered there on that side.

If that doesn't work. Find your local tropical fish club and try to find a microworm culture.
