I recently got some brine shrimp; and have heard about the warmer the temperature the sooner the eggs hatch. Is there a minumum temperature the shrimp have to be to hatch. My water is generally between 13 - 15 degrees Celcius. Will they ever hatch?

I read somewhere that they need highish temps to hatch ( approx.24 degrees) so I had a panic with my first batch and ended up shining a desk light over them. And then I was struck with a thought...read the packet!, there I discovered that this was not the case with the ones I was using and that normal temps would be fine .It was written in german but managed to do the neccessary translation. I suspect that there may be different types of brine shrimp, which need different temps to hatch the maximum ammount.

thanks

Thanks for that. I might put a lamp on them but I don't trust leaving the light on all day..... If the lamp was on them constantly would the water get too hot? or get to a good temperature and not go any higher?

I am at home a lot so I was able to keep check, but as it went I didn't need the lamp at all!. My only other choice was to move the bottles ( hatchery ) somewhere else warmer,,that would have ment the airing cupboard in our bedroom....just didn't fancy hearing them happily bubbling away all night. Check your instruction leaflet for the eggs as they may not need the higher temps. Did have the poor family worried as I was wandering around the house checking temps..they thought the poor old dear had totally flipped!!.

The species is artima or something like that... I don't have the packet with me..... I shall try to find a warm spot but my house is generally not very warm :uhoh:.
They are currently in my room and the bubbles are quite disturbing when trying to sleep.

I have hatched them in my basement, where the temp was around 60F (about 16C). It took about 48 hours for them to hatch at this temp.

I but my hatchery in the heating copboard with constent light on them and hey hatch with in 12h
