A wall of plants?

I need a wall of plants to make a pocket of still water for my paddletail to rest in, what plants are recommended to be able to do this?

I know of artificial plants that are a wall, but I don't know of any live plants. What about plants with big leaves, like an anubius? Would a PVC pipe hold still water, or maybe a glass globe he could go ino?

Paddletails are built to handle fast water and actually prefer it. Adding hides will break the current enough to afford the newts some rest, if needed.

In my tanks, Shinnersia rivularis grows so fast and so dense that for all practicality it could be called a "wall". It also has nice sturdy leaves for the newts to sit on.

It is possible to make a wall out of Java moss: How to Create a Moss Wall

This would take some time to produce though. In my experience, it is a pain using java moss in this kind of way though, if it gets too thick then the under moss dies. Eventually this can cause it to all fall away and foul up the water, but this can be avoided by regularly pruning it.
