Hello,

here are some pics from a new species of Paramesotriton.
They are looking a little bit like P. deloustali, but they aren`t.

Greetings Ingo v.

Hi Ingo, how do you know it's a new species? How is it distict from other Paramesotriton?

Mark

Hi,

i got them from a importer here in Germany as Paramesotriton cf. deloustali.

Then i send pictures and a dead animal to the Museum Alexander Koenig in Bonn, they confirm my idee that this animals are a uncertain species.

In my opinion they looks different to other species of Paramensotriton.

Greetings Ingo V.

Well, there’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding deloustali/guanxiensis. Without proper genetic studies it seems impossible to say what is synonymous or a valid species. I for one hope it gets more simplified because I have trouble telling any of them apart ;).

Hello Mark, at the Museum A. Koenig there is a Doctorant working on the determining of some uncertain species. The problem is, that a lot of animals were imported without any information about the place of collection. Greetings Ingo V.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
