So when this occurred the other day it was a shock and a question answered. So I have just put me two adult axolotls in their new 40 gallon cycled aquarium. The other day I went to Petco and loaded up with plants and decors. So when I went to add these to the aquarium I removed the two axolotls into an half full 10 gallon aquarium for the 10 or so min that I would be adding these decors.
So the 10g was pretty dirty, it was about to get emptied and put away, the water temp was about room temp and it was completely bare. So I'm adding plants and about 2.5 min into adding decor I go to look at the two axos. This is we're I get the big shocker!
I see my male is goin around like crazy with a swollen cloaca and fanning his tail with the female and dropping about 5 spermataphores. I freaked out and put a large fish net in and divided them. Within 30 seconds the swelling of the cloaca was gone and it was as if it never happened.
This is how you see so many "Surpise Eggies" and "Unexpected Laying" forums. I thought you would love to hear my story and I hope it is a bit of a question answerer.
Thank you all
