I was delivering a juvenile to a friend of mine for her son once. It pooed huge in the tupperware. Then ate it. In front of everyone. Good first impression!

When I was little our dog waited all day long for one of the calfs to take a dump. When one of them did he gobbled it up like if it was custard pudding. Didn't do my childhood any good either.

See, I can excuse an axolotl doing that by saying that they probably don't know that it's their own poo. But when my dog did it... She knew. She knew that was her feces. And she ate it anyway and licked us. That's a far worse offense.

Incidentally, the reason why most animals do that as puppies/kittens/babies etc. is because the poo smells like their food. For axolotls, I'd assume that it's because it was there. The same way they try to eat plants.
