hey everyone,

just after some advice.

my 3ft tank came with an inhood filter however this wasnt compatable with my chiller i had purchased.

i purchased a new filter yesterday and it has been running since.

the chiller has also been set up and my tank is now a nice chilly 16 degrees.

my axolotls have been in the fridge for the past few days but arenow back in he tank.

since this afternoon when i put them back in im wondering i have done the wrong thing.

does this mean my tank will now have to go through a cycling process again? or is there enough good bacteria already still in the water?

Without a source of ammonia and oxygen for the good bacteria they will probably have died. Keep a close eye on the water parameters and do daily 20 per cent changes if the readings show its necessary. Mel .

my tank has had to guppies in it the whole time and also lots of baby guppies. im assuming there are pooing too as they are eating. my other filter was running until i put the new one in.

would this be the ammonia source

Guppies and uneaten guppie food should provide enough ammonia to keep the bacteria happy.

hopefully.

i guess the best way to find out will be to test.

do you think freshly born guppies would be an okay food source for the axolotls? i only ask as i have a few baby guppies in my tank that i have failed to catch or they are getting out of the netted box attached to my tank. i have had the parents for over a month and they have survived where other have not.
