A. maculatum's tail

I was cleaning out the crud in their tank today and noticed my poor girl has a puss filled spot on her tail. I felt it to see if it was soft or hard and it burst. (gag) Oozed milky opaque goo. It appeared to be only in that spot on her body and was under the outter most layer of skin. I imagine after shedding, that spot would be eliminated BUT what caused it and how can I prevent it in the future. Nothing else appears wrong, ie; appetite, other infections etc.

has anyone got an idea about this?? i currently have one of my hynobids with a similar sitiation-and his spots are spreading-not sure what to link it to-have to go to vet but am pretty sure she hasnt seen anything like it before -so i was hoping to take some suggestions with me....how is your guy doing meghan?-more spots or the same?

Well, after it burst, I went back after posting and gently eased the rest out of the pocket then let nature take it's course. No signs of infection anywhere else and the area of infection has completely resolved itself. Perhaps she shed later and helped removed that pocket. As stated before, the pus area was just under the outter most layer of skin. Everything appears fine now.
