I've long spent less time with the tanks on the lower shelves -- until now that is...

It's surprisingly comfortable. And the chair swivels. Hats off to the inventor!

Haha. Tim I could have long ago recommended one of those rolling garden stools. It doesn't swivel though.

...*shakes head*

Wow.... so I see there is lot of changes made to the Newtopia Tim has. Tim, may you post some picture of your new newtorium? Just that little corner of the lower selve is getting me excited.

Hi Ali, would have been nice to have been alerted to these garden stools earlier, but then again I might have gone out and got one that doesn't swivel. And it's just gotta swivel!

Ian, it's premature to unveil anything yet as lot of changes are indeed taking place, as indicated by those shelf supports on the floor under my wife's goldfish tank. Those are to be used to accommodate larvae and morphs and for my ever-expanding amphibian library. Soon, the entire floor will be waterproofed. It already has 7 drains -- one in the center and rest along the wall under the tank stands. I'll also be drilling holes through the stands to install air and eventually water pipes for more efficient tank maintenance. The room already has it's own water supply and industrial-size sink with dual faucets, as well as reinforced floor support and extra insulation in the ceiling and walls. And there are plans to build a small outdoor extension to the room that will overhang a small, escape-proof (and child-proof!) Cynops pyrrhogaster pond. It's a costly endeavor for one of modest means, but I figure the more I invest in it, the less likely my wife is to lay claim to the room at some later date for use by our infant son when he's old enough to want to sleep separately. Sure, he'll get a room -- just not my room

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
