A good way to lower water temperature?????

From research I have found out that my newt (California Newt, AKA western newt) requires a water temperature of 60-70, or even colder. It is a constant battle for me to keep the water temp below 70. I have put ice cubes in the water and ice packs. What other methods can be used? What can I do to maintain the temp for longer periods of time? I can't find info on this anywhere or any other ideas besides putting her in the fridge which I'm not going to do and I don't have a cold basement to move her to!

I have the same problem where I am at, and I do put ice cubes in his tank, do some partial water changes when it gets too hot, and i keep a fan on him. I also keep my windows open if there is a breeze, and try to keep it so not too much sun light shines on him. Plus, giving him hiding areas under plants and things will help, because those areas will be cooler. I find that my newt, newton, is always hiding under things when its warmer.

run a tube from your ac vents so that the cold air blows directly onto the glass, or even directly onto the water surface. and if you dont have a screen top, those help a lot too.

larger ice cubes would last longer too.

you could always buy a chiller, but i hear they're pretty expensive.

I looked into buying a chiller for my axolotl tank, but it was cheaper to buy a portable air coniditoner which does the job, for them and me!!
