Hello,

I have been keeping newts since last year and I had originally come here for information on newt care. My two fire bellies are doing great thanks to your advice!

Now my question is: are there any blue newts/salamanders? Well I am sure that there are, but I have no idea about which species.

Thanks for your help!

PS. Sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forums, I wasn't quite sure

Indeed there are. Ichthyosaura alpestris is blue, at least partially. Some ambystomatids like A.laterale have blue pigmentation, some hynobids do too...

Also some melanoid axolotls have a bluish hue, as can Cynops cyanurus.

As far as I know, there are no caudates that are (almost) completely blue - not like the frog Dendrobates azureus.

But the species mentioned have some blue parts, you can look up pictures of them at the species section of Caudata Culture.

Male Cynops cyanurus have an attractive blue coloration on their tails, male Triturus dobrogicus also have it, along with T.cristatus. C.cyanurus are probably the easiest to keep/breed.
