I have about half of the little guys hatched and there is a lot! A few were born Tuesday and they still seem to be doing ok.

I have the 5 oldest in a small container, 3 more in another container and the rest of them in my small tank (they hatched last night and today)

I'm worried that they're not eating, I have no idea if they are or not. If they were starving to death how long would it take? I have daphnia in with them all and there were definitely a lot of baby ones in there so maybe they found them ok?

I have baby brine shrimp which arrived today but I'm not sure it's the right stuff, are they meant to be alive? These look like dots to me.

If you look at the larvae bellies, you should be able to tell if they are eating by the size. They are quite transparent and it's easy to see if the bellies are full or not. How easy they find the babies depends on the size of the container.

Baby brine shrimp should be alive and look like little orange dots darting around. If you shine a light on them, they should gather at the light.

Good luck! ;)

Thanks, yes I can see the bellies look quite pink on a few of the babies, not all of them but I am moving them into smaller boxes just in case they can't find the food.

I think the brine shrimp I have been sent are dud then, they are just a pile of dots on the bottom of the jar, nothing is moving at all.

You should look into this a bit further because I am very new to this myself but you should be able to just go buy some brine shrimp eggs and hatch them in under 24 hours. Eggs are like 4 bucks for an insane amount of them ;)

I've ordered some now online, can't find anybody that sells them in Manchester (UK). Can only get daphnia from one pet shop and it only comes in on Thursdays!

Gonna have to culture my own food I think.

if you can get to Chadderton visit the fish shop on Middleton Road. They get daphnia and bloodworms in usually each day, best time is after 1pm

Mine started hatching on wednesday and now have 30 in total. My brine shrimp eggs hadnt arrived, only came yesterday, so I put loads of daphnia in with them, syphoned out the largest ones for my hubby's fish, and the hatchlings seem to be doing fine. Put some daphnia in yesterday and they were all gone today. Im gonna start the brine shrimp thing tomorrow as I have one packet of daphnia left to use up. The brine shrimp should be easy enough to culture, just have to remember to use them and throw out whatever is left as apparently they absolutely stink when they die, so will be using the two bottle method so I have one bottle ready every day. And apparently they are more beneficial to larvae than daphnia? Or so I read somewhere.
