Sometimes i think my axes have short gils..
Do you think their fine??

When they were babies, they had so much longer gils...

Thanks!

Their gills are a little short but they look healthy. Out of curiosity, as a fellow portlandian where did you get the axies? And did you make it to the Portland metro reptile expo?

I'm betting that if they were bought in the city they're from Pets on Broadway. They order in a lot of babies from a bulk supplier company (which by the way is super sketchy. I tried contacting them).

Wow I am really happy to see portlandian : ) actually I am a boarding student in highschool... I got my axies online from a site like this... By the way I know one fish store that sells axies near my school.(My place is near Beavorton though)

I see , its very true that fish stores are not good with axies...(I got mine online) And axies are quite expensive in fish store <- Tropical fish store

Multiple portlandians! I go to college here. I'm glad you got them online. The stores around here aren't the greatest for care.

My axolotl had shorter gills than that when I got him. Just keep them well fed and in clean water and they will grow in no time :)

How about the expo? Did you get there?

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
