Who's a happy chap today then? Must be me, woohoo! Went to a local second hand shop today, and low and behold i spotted the tank, talked the mrs into parting with some cash, and got a bargain, asked the fella how much and he said £15., which was cheap, still i got him down to £12.50 haha,. Anyway the tank is in great condition and will look superb once i get my hands to work. Will get more information on later with a few pictures, probably after 8 o'clock(uk time) as about to go pick my kids up and do the family thing till they go bed, they too will be excited when they see the tank.

Bargain ! check it for leaks outside, there may be no cracks but check the seams are water tight, its a pain setting up a new tank then finding drips rolling down the edge lol. Also steralise it, i have ten tanks and only two were bought new, keep an eye on your local freecycle site as you can sometimes get them for free.

Great Bargin.

Jammie torag..
Why can I never find bargains like that.
Good on ya

After giving the new tank a good clean, i am more than happy, the glass is as new, one small very faint scratch on the width part of glass only visible because i searched and searched for scratches.. It is currently being leak tested and will stay that way till tomorrow. The tank is 4 foot long, 1 1/2 foot high and 1 foot wide. Total bargain, i was searching ebay last night and was ready to spend on a big tank, think i just saved about £100 at least. It has no lid or cabinet, they are in my head, i've got most of the materials to build these though, which is putting a bigger smile on my face. I've got plans to make this tank look special and my axolotls are going to love it, they are currently in a boyu orca tl550 marine tank(128ltrs) its only 20 inches length, soon they will have 48. I will take some pics tomorrow and plan documenting my build, for you all to see, going to take my time, want this to be my best tank ever, have had a few nice tanks in my time. Any ideas for a really good or the very best substrate would be appreciated as i don't intend on a glass bottom, i have sand at the moment but want something special thats also not harmful for the axxies.

Unexpected family visit means no progress today, but one piece of very good news is that the tank has passed the leak test. Can't control my urge to set it up now, so for time being it will be going onto the cabinet i already own, going to try to do it later on tonight and get it cycling, may even try bare bottom for a while, unless i have sand, which could be at the very bottom of a well overfilled shed! Pictures will come!

Ok, so i have my new tank set up and my axolotls are now enjoying their new home. I now have an aquarium i want to sell, and i thought if its possible i'd like to offer it on here first before the usual auction site,so my question is can i sell an aquarium on here and if so where? Don't want to break any rules so thought it best to ask first. its a boyu orca tl550 marine aquarium.

You can sell equipment here. But personally, I've never sold an aquarium (well, once, but it was a 90gal reptile tank). I like to have as many of those around as possible. Never know when you're going to need one!

I agree with kaysie,
I have six tanks (not to mention the plastic boxes or plastic "kiddie" tanks)
Can never have to many :D. And especially nice ones like that.

I have a few tanks that i keep, i definetly don't like getting rid, but its a marine tank with the built into back of tank filtration, i do prefer to be able to see into my tanks from all angles. I had gave up on any type of fishkeeping, and a couple of months before i came across axolotls, i sold my 6foot 200 gallon tank including cabinet for silly money, soooooo devasted with hindsight.

Noooo so gutted for you. Could you convince your other half, to sell this one and replace it with another one;). Cheeky I know.

And failing that you could put it up on some of the fish keeping sites, as there are always people on there who want to go "marine" might get a few more pennies.

My life would not be worth living if i suggested that to the mrs,(haha) she definetly does not share my enthusiasm, but life is not always perfect ha. Have it advertised so will see what happens.
