Got 6 eggs of an immensely helpful woman, jean. 3 of them hatched today which I am pleased about BUT I am worried that I don't get the answer I suspect...
2 of them seem to have slightly bent tails/spines. Im hoping its just because they've either been curled up or it's the way they're sitting in the water but my question is will I have to kill them?
thanks,

from what i understand, axies with bent tails are distressed. it could be bad water conditions or lack of food. you should probably test the water they are in to see if its okay.

good luck man

If they JUST hatched, give them a couple of hours to straighten out. If they are still bent when they start eating (in 24 hours or so), they may be inferior and need to be culled.

Thanks for the reassurance, I feed them within 48 hours or so right?

Yeah. Their yolk sac will get smaller (although you may not be able to see that happening), and they'll start sitting a little more upright. Start offering food around 24 hours after hatching, and watch for little 'hopping' movements as they launch themselves after food.

If you're using brine shrimp, clean up any that are uneaten within a few hours of putting them in the larvae tank, as they die quickly. Replace as needed.

If you're feeding Daphnia, I usually make baby daphnia available 24/7 to larvae.

Ok, two more hatched overnight. Will try and feed them all this afternoon when I get back from college... thanks!
