Hello people of the new caudata.org,

I have three of five axolotl larvae left, and I think my microworm culture is about up. What is the next step in foods for them? They are about 20mm long now, and seem to be doing fine. If anyone can tell me what bigger foods I can use, that would be great. Thanks!

Chopped live blackworms or whole whiteworms or grindle worms would be ideal. But these could be difficult to obtain, especially if you need something right now. Ask your local pet stores (the small tropical fish shops) about live blackworms. If none of those are possible, you can try introducing them to frozen chopped bloodworms, but it may take a few days until they learn to eat non-moving food.

I used Daphnia with my babies right up until they were about 10 cm.

I cannot seem to get my hands on daphnia- I have read that this would be the best possible food. I also tried culturing them myself-to no avail. I think I am going to try white worms. I have to change the water today, and feed again but hopefull I will obtain some white worms by monday/tuesday.

BTW- Jennewt-love the avatar photo! I am slacking on mine...
