Hey its maddie,

I bought a10 gallon tank, a sponge filter for a 10 gallon tank, and an air pump for a 10 gallon tank. I decided I wanted to upgrade because I bought a second axolotl, so I'm purchasing a 20 gallon tank tomorrow.

Can I still use the air pump and sponge filter that is meant for only 10 gallon tanks, or do I need to purchase the 20 gallon versions? Any help or pictures of your tank set up with filtration system is greatly appreciated!!!!

The best way to work out if a filter is adequate is to get one that does 4X the tanks volume per hour.
So if you had a 100L tank, you would need a 400 L/PH filter.

If you have a filter for a 10 gallon AND a sponge filter then you might get away with just using the same ones, but you will have to keep up with the weekly water changes to ensure the nitrAte doesnt get too high :D
