Hi,

I thought it might be fun to post your tank picture. Can we see your newt or salamander? I have debutants that loathe the paparazzi. You don't have to give a speech or anything if you don't want to. I am sure we can figure out what it is and agree that they are awesome.

Tiger tank. Under gravel filtration, plenty of springtails, woodlice and worms. Ferns, vines and moss. Day light, as well as Led plant light, on timer. These were acquired in Nebraska as larva this spring. About 11 inches or so.

It's not much to look at, but my tiny little P. labiatus is doing well in a mostly aquatic 20 gal tank and cool room temps.
 
Here’s my 20 long with three alpine newts and a small school of White Cloud Mountain minnows. There are two big logs in each corner for them to haul themselves onto, which I’ve only ever witnessed once in the two years I’ve had them.

Moved 3 tigers into this 75 planted. Mini pond from Lowes into a lined container with pump and filtration. Substrate a mix of organic potting soil, coconut fiber and Repti-Soil. Pill bugs and red wrigglers, and a few springtails.

Hopefully, soon there will be a photo of my tank with amphibians, for now, I possess only fish tank !!!

* about the pebbles, i know. i believe axolotls to be gastroliths and that they intentionally consume small rocks and pebbles for buoyancy and gut-health reasons. i have a thread somewhere, i think it’s titled “a bit of an experimentl

    Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.

I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

    Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

    Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
