It's finally filled in with a plant a grass patch and a moss carpet. I made two caves out of water bottle bottoms which moss grew over intentionally. There's also a dividing wall of plastic which the salamander loves to go under. On the other side of the wall are some rocks and an air stone kind of buried to keep the water sprinkling over all the time Also the oxygen in the water I've read is good for the salamander and plants. The lights are on a timer of 10 or 11 hours of light Per day. I didn't even plant any of those plants they all just started growing and then I fragmented the moss so it would fill in where I wanted.

It looks nice, the gravel might give you problems by trapping dirt and making it impossible to keep water quality stable.
What kind of salamander live in there?

Hey thanks for the response, I have no issue washing the rocks occasionally and changin his water often. I also let all the water sit and dechlorinate for a few days before adding it in. Not sure what kind it is I rescued it from the pool last year here's a picture of him Goin after a cricket in the bush.

Hes really social. Whenever i open the tank he pops his head out, itll actually eat from my hand. Its kind of weird but nice cuz less crickets get stuck and die in the tank.

Here's the pics again.

The a Blue Spotted Salamander, Ambystoma laterale. The setup seems adequate to me, but a few more hides would be ideal.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail. I also asked this as an actual question in a thread in case anyone wants to answer it there instead of here
